Thanks, Rene. This is really a puzzling work! How do you know? I had seen last week in São Paulo´s Bienal Internacional de Arte a Marina Abramovich´s performance, that calls THREE. In this video Marina, Ulay and a snake stay for three hours in a square ring. I decide to mix this strong image with something i am studing in this moment: the mozarabic books made in Spain in the and of the first millennium, about the apocalypse. There is a famous version in the Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid, that have a page showing THREE unclean spirits like frogs, coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Always a pleasure to follow your inspirations and ideas. I found the illustration, it's the book of Beatus of Liébana, I assume. When checking on Marina I found another nice thought train: in the work "Lovers" Ulay and Marina walk on the chinese wall (again three items); did you know the chinese wall is symbolised as a dragon?
Great, Rene. Yes the image is a copy from the book of Beatus of Liébana! And about "lovers", the performance is a split couple, isn´t it? They (Marina and Ulay)take a diferent way since this date. May be I am going to work in another three combine.
It's Albert Seba, and he was a dutch naturalist which lived around 1700. He collected curiosities, and made beautiful copper engravings. You can find the snake which looks like your dragon at: http://www.aradergalleries.com/detail.php?id=691

Tito,
